Chinook Salmon Spawning • Middle Fork Eel River Tributary

This video is of a beautiful pair of Chinook salmon holding in front of their redd in a tributary of the Middle Fork Eel while they were waiting for the water to warm above 42 F. Water colder than that is lethal to unhardened salmon eggs.

The video was filmed by the Eel Recovery Project. The Salmon Restoration Association funds ERRP surveys in Mendocino County.
